The Need for Supplements: Most people these days are looking at ways to improve their health and more than ever, they are turning to supplements to pack up on the vitamins and minerals. Moreover, every medium right from newspapers to television is being used to carry out campaigns that promote the use of supplements. The added benefits of going organic have only increased the awareness of organic supplements that could improve the standard of living. Most often the supplements being promoted are the trace elements and vitamins that are so needed by the body to function. Somehow an impression is being created that a normal diet would not contain the most need minerals and vitamins, thus making it necessary to turn to supplements.

The Normal Diet: Most people do eat a healthy and wholesome diet that should take care of most normal requirements of the body. There are though the sick and convalescing patients that would need a fortified diet to take care of their special requirements. Dietary supplements are needed by such people as most diets cannot cater to the increased need of the body at the time of recovery and repair. The modern day trend to turn to refined products in place of natural and wholesome products has only increased the need for supplements to make a complete diet. But the use of supplements must be so controlled as to be able to be absorbed by the body. There are instances when the increased dietary supplements are just excreted out of the body without actually bringing any additional benefits.

Going Natural: There has been a trend to go natural these days. By natural we mean the use of organic farming and naturally occurring processes to growing food and other items for use. It was just a continuum to take to organic vitamins and supplements. Most people do tend to get impressed with the term organic and tend to blindly believe that whatever is organic would be good for them. Although using organic is certainly more healthy, here too the excessive use of organic products particularly vitamins and supplements do pose a health hazard. At best, the normal dietary supplementary requirements of a person should be substituted by organic products and not try and take supplements and vitamins unnecessarily.

Conclusion: Certainly organic products are the most preferred option in the use of vitamins and minerals but they should not be overdone. Sufficient medical advice must be taken to their use, even if the use of organic products might appear harmless. The body tends to process organic matter more easily than minerals from other sources. There are tolerance levels that should not be exceeded while using organic products as well. Like any other mineral and vitamins, the organic products too must be used judicially so as not to cause a dependence. With the increased awareness that has been brought about in the market place, it is safe to say that more organic minerals and food material would be available from organic sources in the future.
